Gary Caldwell on Manchester City (A)

Gary Caldwell pre Manchester City

Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell has said the team are looking to give a performance that the fans can be proud of, ahead of the trip to take on Premier League giants Manchester City in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Gary said: "You could feel the excitement as soon as the players came in this week. The players had Monday off to recover after a really difficult Christmas period, but everyone has come in full of energy and enthusiasm and are looking forward to a very difficult FA Cup tie away at Manchester City."

City head to take on Pep Guardiola's Man City - one of the best teams in world football, but Gary says that preparations are the same as any other game:

"We approach it the same as any other game. The analysts watch and give us a report on the team. We watch games - myself and the staff come together and decide how to approach the game and our game plan and we put that into training.

"Preparations don't change but obviously the outside world wants to know more about us as a football club this week which means we can tell our unique story - but the process remains the same."

The Grecians will be backed by a sold out away end of 7,800 fans and Gary thanked the supporters for all they do ahead of the long trip.

"It's incredible - when I saw the number and it sold out quickly was amazing. We are incredibly grateful for them to support us again in huge numbers. We know how difficult it is and what they have done for us over Christmas so hopefully we can give a performance where they can be proud of the team and they can come full of hope that we can cause one of the greatest upsets of all time."
