Gary Caldwell has given his thoughts as the Grecians gear up for the Sky Bet League One opener at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
The newly promoted Rovers will provide a tough test to kick off the season, but after nine summer signings and an unbeaten pre-season campaign, the group go into the game in good spirits.
“We are really excited for the start of the season. As always there is that hope and that expectation of what could happen, but as we know over the course of a long season there are going to be highs and lows."
“It’s tough to open away from home and it’s the team that won the league, who are very confident in how they play and gets them results. I think it going to be a really fast start with a good home crowd, but we are ready for the test. We know what they are going to bring, so it’s all about us and the experience we have of being in League One for four seasons now.
“Pre-season was a big process for us as we adapted how we played in and out of possession so we are ready for all the scenarios this season is going to bring, and we start straight away with a game that requires us to play in a certain way.”
