Exeter City Football Club is delighted to announce that Goalkeeper Frankie Phillips has had a one-year contract extension triggered in his deal.
The extension will see Frankie remain at St James Park until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Young shot stopper Frankie joined the Grecians on an initial one-year contract in July 2024 and spent the whole of the 24/25 season on loan at Exmouth Town, helping them make the Southern League Premier division one play-offs, keeping 21 clean sheets and becoming a fan favourite. Frankie ended the 24/25 season gaining valuable experience being named sub goalkeeper at City's final match of the season at Mansfield Town.
This season, Frankie has gained valuable experience on loan at both Taunton Town and Plymouth Parkway in the Southern League Premier, before returning to City to link up with the first-team after Joe Whitworth suffered an injury.
Speaking about his contract extension, Frankie said: “It’s brilliant. This is what I wanted to earn this time last year, so I’m delighted to sign and be here for the 26/27 season.
“Kev has asked me to come in and push the other goalkeepers as hard as I can and you never know what can happen. This year with Joe being out injured I’ve been recalled and you don’t know what is around the corner, so as long as you’re ready and mentally prepared for what’s to come, you’re in a good place.
“It’s brilliant working with Kev, Joe and Jack. It’s serious but we can have a joke too which makes you want to train and be involved and contribute – as GK Union goes it’s got to be one of the closest.
